The basis for “natural wines” is trust in the work of nature and the power of one’s own work. The traditional slate slopes in the unique microclimate of the Moselle Valley offer us great conditions for such work. Some of our plots have been planted with vines for more than a thousand years. We are Nicole and Achim Reis. Our sons Aaron, Vitus and Jasper also pitch in. Our family has been growing steep-slope wine here for fifteen generations. Here we are at home.
We cultivate the vineyards ecologically and care for the vines carefully by hand. When harvesting, we select by hand in several harvests at the time of optimal ripeness. Through this loving effort in the vineyard we obtain perfect grapes. This special quality of the grapes allows us to exercise the greatest possible restraint in winemaking (“low intervention”). Our wines ferment spontaneously without industrial yeasts or additives. We support the winemaking process of the grapes with experience and feeling. All wines remain unfiltered. Space is deliberately left for wildness, vintage individuality and natural expression. The originality and individuality of our wines is evident on the palate in a complex and stimulating way. Strangely enough, despite all the strength of our character, we feel it somehow. . . tasty. Typically Moselle?
